8 HOSA members compete nationally; 5 place

Not every student in Friendswood ISD finishes competing before school ends in May or early June. Eight FHS members of Health Occupations Students of America or HOSA competed at National contest during the summer at Walt Disneyworld.

“We are so proud to announce that five out of the eight placed or were recognized on stage for their work,” HOSA Advisor Sophia A. Perez said.
More than 8,000 HOSA members from across the nation competed and five FHS members placed.
Nathan Tat placed third in Medical Reading.
Avery Chahl and Neha Narayan placed sixth in Health Education.
Sarah Sutherland received recognition for Scrapbook that named Friendswood High School Outstanding HOSA Chapter.
Christina Nguyen was recognized with The Barbara James Service Award for outstanding documented community service.
Rachel Cao, Ashley Cao and Felicity Yiu competed in Public Service Announcement.
“We are very proud of these students and look forward to continued success at HOSA competitions this next school year,” Chris Scarpa, advisor, said.
