All Superiors for four FHS Bands at Concert, Sight Reading contests

The Friendswood High School Bands recently participated in the UIL Region

17 Concert and Sight Reading Contest at Pearland High School recently.

All four FHS bands earned all Superior Ratings from all the judges. That is

a perfect score. No other high school in the region had all of their bands earn all

superior ratings, according to Band Director Greg Dick.

This is the 14th consecutive year that the FHS Band has won the

UIL "Sweepstakes Trophy" representing the marching band earning a superior

rating at the region contest and the varsity concert band earning superior ratings in

concert and sight reading.

The bands are the Wind Ensemble, directed by Greg Dick; Symphonic Band,

directed by Aaron Brown; Concert Band I, directed by Julio Sanchez; and Concert

Band II, directed by Greg Dick.

The students have been working on the music since January and played at

their highest level.

“We are very proud of them!” Dick said.
