Board Member Robinson elected to Gulf Coast Board

Friendswood ISD school trustee Matt Robinson has been elected as a Director of the Gulf Coast Area Association of School Boards (GCAASB) for the 2014-2015 school year.

The GCAASB is a voluntary organization composed of more than 50 school boards in the greater Houston area to enhance the quality of education for the public school children in the Texas Gulf Coast area by providing education and information to the local school boards, and creating an opportunity to local school boards to impact legislation affecting public schools.

The dues paid by GCAASB member school boards and associate members, who are supporters of public education, provided state-required training for local trustees at quarterly meetings, produce a regular newsletter, and support educational excellence at the local school level through a scholarship program.

“ The experience that Mr. Robinson has gained on the local Board of Trustees will benefit all of the students, staffs, and schools in the Gulf Coast Area Association as it is combined on the Executive board with the experience of trustees from the 14 other school districts,” GCAASB Executive Secretary Jerry Smith said. “That leadership will be meaningful!”
