FHS Academic Decathlon team wins 8 medals at Nationals

FHS seniors Julia Lu, Jonathan Snowden, Ray Monahan, and Brooks Pettit represented Friendswood at the National Academic Decathlon meet in Garden Grove,
California April 16-19.
The four won eight medals at the national competition.
Julia Lu won four individual medals: first place in Art, second place in Literature,
second place in Economics and third place in Mathematics.

Jonathan Snowden placed second in Literature.
Ray Monahan won first place in Speech and second place in Essay.
Brooks Pettit won first place in Literature.

“We are so proud of these students and their accomplishments,” AD Coach Renae Simons said. Simons works with AD Coaches Arden Zimmerman and Ashley Birmingham.

The four qualified for nationals following their third place win with the FHS
Academic Decathlon team in February in San Antonio.

Only 11 students were chosen from across the nation to compete at the prestigious national level.
