FHS has 5 place in All-State Choir

Five Friendswood HS students successfully auditioned for the Texas All-State Choirs on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Deer Park High School. This was the fourth audition for the students, in a process that began in September of 2014. Over 15,000 students begin the audition process; only 600 are selected for the All-State Choirs from that original number.

The All-State Choirs will perform during the Texas Music Educators Association convention, to be held in San Antonio, Feb. 11-14.

Senior Shelby Allison, a three-year All-State Choir member, was ranked first in her section at the Area auditions last week. She will sing Soprano 2 with the All-State Mixed Choir. Two-year All-State Choir member Gina Baker and Sevren Lab, both juniors, will sing Alto 2 with the All-State Women’s Choir. Freshman Mandy Larsen, will also perform with the Women’s Choir as an Alto 1. Junior Connor Krusleski was selected for the All-State Men’s Choir and will sing Bass 1 with the ensemble.

In addition, Friendswood had three students named as first alternate: senior Nattie Wroblewski, Soprano 1; junior Oliver Jones, Tenor 2; and freshman Garrett Morris, Tenor 1.

Director is Janwin Overstreet-Goode.
