Ten Friendswood HS students successfully auditioned for the Texas All-State Bands on Saturday, Jan. 10, at Lamar University. This was the final audition for the students in a process that began in August. Only the top 3% of all students in band across Texas earn a position in the All-State Band. The All-State Bands will perform during the Texas Music Educators Association convention, to be held in San Antonio, Feb. 11-14.
Band students earning All-State include the following:
Chris Chao, Bb, Clarinet, a four-year All-State Band member;
Julia Lu; Flute, a three year All-State Band member;
Mia Purdom, Flute, a three year All-State Band member;
Selina Vickery, Clarinet, a three year All-State Band member;
Adrian Falco, Alto Sax, a three year All-State Band member;
Megan Wade, Trumpet, a three year All-State Band member;
Cameron Roberts, Oboe, a two year All-State Band member;
Aubrey Chalene, French horn, a two year All-State Band member;
Sean Jankowski, Clarinet, a two year All-State Band member; and
Andrew Morgan, Bass Clarinet, a two year All-State Band member.
In addition, Friendswood had two students named first alternate, Daniel Isaacs on Tenor Saxophone and Brooks Pettit on Bass Trombone.
