FHS places third at State UIL, brings home many individual, team awards

Friendswood High School won third place in points following the state UIL Academic Meet held in Austin recently. Points are accrued from winning contests by individuals and/or teams.

In events, Nathan Hobley placed fourth in Computer Science with the CS Team taking second place. Team members include Hobley, Chris Neagu, Tyler Huning and Thomas Chenette. Coach is Annette Walter.

In Feature Writing, Sarah Evans placed fifth. Coach is Vicki Hartzell.

Dylan Dickens placed third in Informative Speaking and second in Lincoln Douglas. His coach is Cheryl Ryne.

Bryan Holcomb placed third in mathematics. His coach is Mary Gillespie.

Jacob Segal won first in Ready Writing with Coach Kevin Reed.

In Spelling, Matthew Laitkep was awarded fifth place in Spelling. The Spelling Team with Laitkep, Michael Laitkep, Natalie Wu and David Bordelon placed second. Coach is Pepper Smith.
