FHS Signing Day 5-17-17

Six Friendswood High School athletes signed letters of intent on National Signing Day, May 22nd, on campus. The six consist of (From L-R) Andrew Briones (lacrosse at Newberry College), Logan Romano (lacrosse at Newberry College), Baily West (wrestling at Graceland University) , Jacob Crain (baseball at Concordia University), Michael Claunch (diving at Missouri State University), and Theresa Eldridge (women’s basketball at Aurora University). Joining them were Coach Darron Scott, Principal Mark Griffon, and Athletic Director Robert Koopman.

Theresa Eldridge, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Aurora University. In addition to playing on the FHS Girls Basketball Team, Eldridge was a member of the French Club. She was joined at the signing by her parents Mike and Patty Eldridge, her brother Matt Eldridge, and her grandfather Richard Shafranski.

Jacob Crain, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Concordia University. His athletic honors include an Honorable Mention for pitching. He was joined at the signing by his parents Jeff and Karen Crain and his coach Steve Hecker.

Andrew Briones, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse at Newberry College. At FHS, he was involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and played varsity soccer. His athletic honors include All-District Honorable Mention for lacrosse. He was joined at the signing by his parents Mario and Kristie Briones, his sister Sarah Briones, and his coach TJ Benson.

Logan Romano, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse for Newberry College. At FHS, he was also involved in the fishing club. His athletic honors include The Coaches Award (2016-2017) and the LSM Award (2014-2013). He was joined at the signing by his parents Shelley and Barry Romano, his brother Braden Romano, and his coach TJ Benson.

Baily West, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to join the wrestling team for Graceland University. At FHS, West was also involved in MCS and FCCLA. His athletic honors include qualifying for district, regionals, and state. He was joined at the signing by his mother Jennifer Wolf and his coach Michael Lowe.

Michael Claunch, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to join the Diving Team for Missouri State University. At FHS, he was also a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Claunch has accomplished many honors in swimming which include, qualifying for state in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Claunch made the first team his junior and senior year as well as placing 4th his senior year. He has set numerous FHS diving records. He was joined at the signing by his parents Douglas and Dawn Claunch, FHS Aquatics Head Coach John Little, FHS Assistant Aquatics Coach and Dive Coach Steve Haffelder, and Bay Area Stars Dive Coach Sven Schultz.
