FISD teachers honored by Region 4 as Teachers of the Year

Region 4 Teachers of the Year Dinner and Awards Ceremony, held August 2, 2017,
honored two Friendswood ISD teachers for their outstanding service to education.

Friendswood Junior High School’s Spanish teacher and Student Council Sponsor
Kimberly Hall has devoted herself to helping teens navigate the turbulence of
junior high years while helping them find a positive place in school. In May, she was
selected as the Friendswood ISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year.
“You don’t need permission to be extraordinary,” Hall said.  “Each of us can, and should
strive to make a positive mark on the world.”
Windsong Intermediate’s Special Education teacher and FISD’s Elementary Teacher of
the Year Kerry Deatherage strives to be an advocate for all children.
“Seeing a child’s face light up with anticipation is one of the best rewards of teaching,”
Deatherage said. “Eagerness and a drive for learning is what I want to spark in my
students.”
