FISD welcomes retired military volunteers for security

FISD is implementing a pilot program to use retired military volunteers for a security patrol on the exterior perimeter and parking areas of the High School beginning tomorrow at 9 a.m.

The retired military volunteers we have to start this program have been screened as we would any volunteer. These individuals will not carry firearms of any kind and will not have direct student contact. They will simply serve as additional eyes and ears with the capability to communicate any suspicious activity to campus administration and the Friendswood Police Department SRO. The volunteers may be on foot, in a personal vehicle, or in a golf cart to conduct their patrol.  This is an additional layer to the layers put in place for the last two weeks of school.  This program will be assessed for future implementation on a larger scale.
