FJH AP moves to Westwood as new elementary principal Moffitt to serve pre-k to second grades

The marquee outside of Westwood Elementary welcomes back Kristin Moffitt. It wasn’t too long ago that she taught second grade there.

Moffitt is returning this fall but not as a teacher. Kristin Moffitt is the new principal of the campus that will house pre-k, kindergarten, first and second grades. Third grade is moving to Bales Intermediate which will have third through fifth grades.

Moffitt has been an Assistant Principal for sixth grade at Friendswood Junior High for the past three years. Prior to this she taught second grade at Westwood for 10 years.

Before coming to Friendswood ISD, Moffitt taught first grade for eight years in Pasadena ISD.

Moffitt lives in Friendswood with her husband Chad, an Alvin optometrist, and daughters Jordan, senior and Jenna, freshman, at FHS.

Her plans for Westwood next year center around creating a welcoming and friendly environment at a campus that partners with parents and the community.

“Westwood wants to create life-long learners who capture the love of reading at an early age,” Moffitt said. “Of course we want to continue the great things that are already happening there as well as serve as a sister school with Bales Intermediate for collaboration and growth.”

Former Westwood-Bales principal, Terri Bruce, will serve as the principal for Bales Intermediate. The two schools which have been a k-5 campus will return to two campuses this fall.
