Foundation welcomes new staff in FISD

FISD Education Foundation hosts New FISD Employee Luncheon

More than 70 new employees to Friendswood ISD were welcomed recently by the FISD Education Foundation at a New Employee Luncheon held at The Green Event Center in Friendswood.
The new staff consisted of pre-k- twelfth grade teachers, paraprofessionals as aides, clerks and secretaries, and administrators. Mentors also attended with their new teacher beside them.

The purpose of the luncheon is to welcome the new staff to the community as well as to the stellar school district.
Superintendent Trish Hanks welcomed those attending and introduced Dr. Greg Bonnen, State Representative and FISD Elementary Teacher of the Year Margaret Limmer.

Bonnen shared his own education stories growing up in Angleton and thanked those choosing to be in FISD where he and his wife had two daughters go through Friendswood ISD schools.

Limmer gave tips to those new to teaching and shared humorous tales of classroom activities. She encouraged and inspired the audience to do whatís best for students and enjoy the wonderful times they are about to have.
Foundation Directors Paige Ridout and Joseph Ditta were the two emcees.
Education Foundation President Chris Sellers welcomed the group and thanked them for choosing FISD from all the directors on the Foundation.

Each new employee were given a large goody bag prepared by the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce. Local merchants filed the bags with items that welcomed the new staff to the community.

GCEFCU also sponsored the lunch.

Foundation Directors Kathryn Kinloch and Kam Hasmukh chaired the event with assistants Sheri Barber and Susan Kelly, also Foundation Directors.

Vendors at the event included Texas State Teachers Association (TSTA), ATPE (Association of Texas Professional Educators), First Financial, FJH PTO, YMCAs, and GCEFCU.
