FRIENDSWOOD FFA Show Cattle Team member wins STATE & NATIONAL Titles

Gracie Kempken, a member of the Friendswood FFA Show Cattle Team, attended the
2017 Texas Junior Brangus Breeders Association State Show in Bryan, Texas in June.
Gracie attended with her Black Brangus cow/calf pair to compete with other Brangus
owners and breeders from all over the state.

DK Miss Loretta 594C (aka Doodlebug) along with her bull calf, GK Freight Train 594E
were named the 2017 TJBBA Grand Champion Cow/Calf Pair. This was Gracie and
Doodlebug’s second time to bring home the title of Grand Champion at the TJBBA State
Show.

After a few weeks of rest, they traveled to Texarkana, Arkansas to attend the 2017
National Junior Brangus Show in July where this dynamic duo competed with Brangus
breeders from other states including Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, Florida,
Louisiana, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Gracie was thrilled with Doodlebug being awarded
the title of Reserve Champion Cow/Calf Pair at her first National Show.

In addition to these impressive titles, Gracie competed in a Showmanship Showdown
where she was named Reserve Champion in the intermediate division at the State Show
and 8th out of 50 contestants at the National Show.

This is Gracie’s second year to be on the show cattle team and looks forward to working
hard to continue her success in the show ring.
