Each year House Members are invited to select a constituent to create a visual representation of what makes their Texas House District special. A group of 2nd and 3rd grade Gifted/Talented students at C.W. Cline Elementary in Friendswood ISD were asked to decorate this year's ornament that will hang on a majestic 20-foot, Texas grown Christmas tree. The class chose to make a beautiful tree made of their fingerprints. “The tree signifies the strong family root and supportive community branches that represent the values of the people in District 24,” said Barb Kessler, G/T teacher. Background about the District Ornament Project: the district ornament project was initiated in 2009 to give all of the unique Texas communities a place on the Lone Star Celebration Christmas Tree in the Chamber of the Texas House of Representatives. The ornaments will be placed on the tree on December 7, 2015, and will remain on display through January 1, 2016. The story of each ornament is documented in an album in the House Chamber so that visitors to the Capitol may learn the story behind each ornament.
