PTO breaks record in giving $70,000 to grades 4, 5 at Windsong
Windsong Intermediate administrators were all smiles recently when PTO officers and members stopped by to deliver something very important. The PTO group presented it in large check form and gave the campus the most money ever received there from a PTO.
Each grade received $35,000, totaling $70,000. The previous largest amount had been in 2009-2010 when the PTO group had presented the campus with $29,000 per grade.
“We were proud to be presenting a new record amount,” PTO Treasurer Alan Stanfield said. “I have been doing this four years and this was the proudest moment to give to the school.”
Some of the big money makers included the following: Stallion Stampede which brought in $45,000. The event was chaired by Alan and Beth Stanfield with Kim Girouard.
Fall and Spring Socials contributed $8,000 and were chaired by Michelle Hernandez and Deena Patel. Cafeteria sales totaled $7,000 and was chaired by Jennifer Cloyd and Erin Pesek.
Chaired by Debbie Gibson, the Book Fair provided $4,000.
The Windsong Spirit Store contributed $3200 and was chaired by Jennifer Cloyd and Karen Fang.
“We are so grateful to our wonderful PTO whose members work so hard all year to help us get what we need,” Principal Nelda Guerra said. “Thanks to all who worked and everyone in the community, our parents, family members, friends who attended events and helped our PTO have successful events.”
Superintendent Trish Hanks extends her thanks to the Windsong PTO.
“The PTOs have impacted all students in FISD for many years now. We are so appreciative of our parents who serve on PTO and for breaking their own records in giving this year,” Hanks said. “They give us their valuable time and expertise in each of their successful events. They are true role models for hard work and meeting goals.”
