Friendswood High School art department has advanced to the semi-finals in the VANS Custom Culture tennis shoe contest, a national contest designed to give high school students a platform to embrace creative expression while joining a movement to support arts education and foster their school’s #RightToArt.
3,000 schools entered this contest, and were challenged to design four pairs of VANS tennis shoes with the themes of music, art, local flavor, and VANS sponsored sport. FHS has made it into the TOP 50 in the nation! The next phase is on-line voting and they need votes daily.
The public voting phase is April 27th-May 11th. If Friendswood wins, their students will fly to California for a chance to win $50,000 for their high school art department! Friendswood is the only school representing the Houston area in the contest. Supporters are invited to vote daily, as each person is allowed one vote per day per email address.
