Marching bands to perform in competition at FHS, September 30

FHS Mighty Mustang Band to Host Annual Band Competition

Friendswood High School’s Mighty Mustang Band will host its annual marching band
competition on Saturday, September 30th, at the Henry Winston Stadium.

Gregory Dick, Friendswood Director of Bands, said that this year’s contest will be the “biggest and best yet! The small town with the big sound is going to be bigger than ever!”

Seventeen area high school marching bands will compete during Saturday’s spectacular event, with Friendswood High School’s own award-winning Mighty Mustang Band performing an exhibition. The bands competing in order of performance are Alvin HS, Clear Brook HS, Dobie HS, North Shore HS, Clear Falls HS, Pearland HS, Oak Ridge HS, Clements HS, Dawson HS, Manvel HS, Cinco Ranch HS, Seven Lakes HS, Foster HS, Clear Creek HS, Little Cypress-Mauriceville HS, Waller HS, and last year’s Grand Champion Stephen F. Austin HS.

Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. for the preliminary performance with the preliminary awards to be presented at 3:45p.m. The gates will reopen at 5:45pm for the exciting final competition with the Mighty Mustang Band performing an exhibition before the final award presentation at 9:00pm.

The general public is invited to attend. Tickets for the day are $15, half-day passes are $10 and children 5 and under free. Onsite parking is limited and Off-site spectator parking is available at Westwood Elementary located at 211 Stadium Lane, Friendswood.
