Why cook? FHS had pre-game dinners that help groups hosting events

Eating out before a football game at Friendswood High School has become a tradition and one that helps organizations every time it is done.

“It has become expected to not have to worry about dinners on game night,” FISD Superintendent Trish Hanks said. “Everyone loves the privilege of eating out and really likes knowing it is all for a great cause for each group hosting. Thanks to all groups who take this on.”

The first non-district game with George Ranch that is recorded as a Mustang victory had a pre-game dinner that helped the freshman class.

The next home game is September 26 when the Mustangs face Clear Falls of Clear Creek ISD. Band will sponsor that pregame dinner from 5-7 pm. Chicken tenders, French fries, salad and homemade desserts will be offered to each attending for $8 per person. Tickets are sold at the door.

The next home game is October 10 and is the Homecoming Weekend. Homecoming Parade is Thursday night with the Distinguished Alumni banquet afterward at The Green Event Center. Friday night the Mustangs play Clear Falls and the Hall of Honor inductees will occur before the game and be announced at Halftime.

The pre-game dinner will be sponsored by the Junior Class. Funds earned will be put toward their prom. Dinner will run 4:30-7 pm. For $10 per ticket, those attending will get barbecue catered by Joe’s Barbecue of Alvin. This will include brisket, chicken, beans, potato salad and cobbler. There will also be a silent auction which will include many baskets, The University of Texas tickets, San Antonio getaway and more. Tickets will be available at the door.

This game will feature the Patriotic Show at half-time.

On October 17, FHS Mustangs will play Clear Creek High School of Clear Creek ISD. The Wranglerettes will sponsor the pre-game dinner from 4:30-7 pm with Chick-fil-a sandwiches, chips, baked beans, potato salad, tea or lemonade and dessert for $8 per person. Funds earned will be used for their trip to New York over Thanksgiving holiday.

Pre-game dinner tickets can be purchased beginning Sept. 9 from any Wranglerette, drill trainer, Wranglerette manager or at the door of the event that evening.

On Halloween, October 31, the Mustangs will play Clear Lake High School of Clear Creek ISD. This is also senior recognition night. The pre-game dinner is under the direction of the FHS Choir. From 5-7 pm, the Choir will offer spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage for $8 per person.

Tickets may be purchased beginning two weeks prior to the dinner from any high school Choir member or at the door. Children (6th grade and younger) with a Spaghetti Dinner ticket will be able to trick or treat in the school hallways from 6:30-7:30 pm.
