WW-B Student Council active in community service

Student Council at Westwood-Bales is an active group who strives to put community first.

Council representatives from each third, fourth and fifth grade classes along with Council officers attended the TEPSA Student Council workshop in Seabrook recently.

Officers include President Kate Meador, Vice President Lily Hall, Secretary Megan Dodson and Treasurer/Historian Zoe Sellers.

They learned about leadership and how to lead a successful council. They also learned several funny songs, according to Sponsor Stacy Mueller.

“We try to focus on community service and leadership development,” Mueller said.

This year Council delivered cards to two localretirement/nursing homes on Make a Difference Day and delivered socks to the homeless in downtown Houston.

Socks were collected through a sock drive as part of "Socktober."  Students made posters and boxes to get the word out and then sorted all the socks.

“Several students and teachers went to hand out the socks and serve dinner as well. It was a chilly night and Mr. Whitlock gave a great message,” Mueller said.
