FHS Tennis earns title DISTRICT CHAMPS!

Tennis-District-1Friendswood repeats as Varsity Tennis District Champions.
Dawson finishes runner-up, advancing one spot over last year’s finish. Goose Creek Memorial finishes third, one spot lower than last year. Texas City completes the list for Area Tournament qualifiers in 4th place (repeating last year’s finish).

Rounding out the district 24 4A results are Galveston Ball 5th, Galena Park 6th, and Baytown Lee 7th. Santa Fe does not participate in Team Tennis in the fall season.

Area tournament matches will begin on Tuesday, October 15 after school. District 24 will match up against District 23. In the first round, the higher seed will host the lower seeded teams. The bracket will work out as follows:

Texas City (24 4th) at George Ranch (23 1st)

Angleton (23 3rd) at Dawson (24 2nd)

Goose Creek Memorial (24 3rd) at Foster (23 2nd)

Bay City (23 4th) at Friendswood (24 1st)

The winners of the first round matches will advance to the semifinals which will be played on Friday, October 18 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Tennis-District-2The top half of the draw winners will play at Alvin High School. The bottom half winners will play at Angleton High School. The winners of the semifinal matches will play in the final match at Angleton High School at 1:30 on Friday.

There will also be a 3rd place match at Alvin at 1:30. Note: If Angleton advances to the finals of the Area tournament, the first place match will be played at Alvin and the 3rd place match will be played at Angleton.

Winners and runners up of the Area tournament will advance to the Region tournament in Katy, scheduled for October 25-26.
