8 FHS Band members make Region Orchestra

Friendswood High School band students auditioned recently at Alvin High School for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region Orchestra. Eight FHS musicians made it.

The following made the orchestra: Cameron Roberts – 1st chair oboe; Selina Vickery – 2nd chair clarinet; Jonathan Snowden – 1st chair bass clarinet; Aubrey Chalene – 5th chair horn; and Daniel Bradley – 8th chair horn.

Three not only made orchestra but were also named 5A qualifier. They are

Julia Lu – 2nd chair flute – 5A Area qualifier; Kylie Hansen – 2nd chair bassoon – 5A Area qualifier; and Natalie Merino – 3rd chair horn – 5A Area qualifier.

The Region Orchestra will perform Saturday Nov. 23, 2013 at Clear Springs High School at 5:45 p.m.

Approximately, 50 FHS wind ensemble members auditioned for the Region Orchestra.

In December, FHS band members (including wind ensemble members and others) will try out for Region Band. Lu, Hansen and Merino will qualify for that band but will try out to determine which chair.

Those qualifying for Region Band will go on to audition for Area and then State.
