Senior artist wins Galveston Brushes by the Beach contest

RivesEmily Rives, FHS senior, won a Galveston art competition recently. Brushes by the Beach competition was hosted by the G. Lee Gallery and sponsored by Plein Air Magazine.  Contestants had six hours to complete a painting (of a location of their choosing) anywhere on Galveston Island.

Emily’s painting of a Victorian row house won first place and will be featured in an issue of Plein Air Magazine.  She also won a cash prize from the gallery.

Emily is the daughter of Marcus and Sue Rives of Friendswood.
