Friendswood swimmers, divers victorious in first dual meet

Friendswood High School swimmers and divers competed in their first dual meet of the season, Thursday, November 7, at Clear Brook High School. The Lady Mustangs showed their dominance winning every event and beating Clear Brook’s girls by accumulating a total of 207 points to Brooks 78 points. The Mustangs also had a very strong meet winning 10 out of the 12 boy’s events. The Friendswood boys won the meet with a total of 209 points while the Brook boys scored 67 points.

Friendswood had five swimmers that won both of their individual events. Those swimmers included: Jack Maloy, Justin Bertelsman, Sydney Gurry, Sadie Wilson and Heidi Henricks. Bring home four first places winning both their individual events and also swimming on two winning relays were Jack Maloy, Justin Bertelsman, Sydney Gurry and Sadie Wilson.

The divers only compete in the 1 meter springboard. Winning the girls diving for Friendswood was Rachel Wright and Friendswood’s Trey Hamby took first for the boys.

The Friendswood swimming and diving teams will compete next on November 14 in a dual meet with Alvin High School at the Friendswood natatorium.
