Director, Kathy Powdrell shared that the cast, crew and pit band have dedicated each night’s performance to the memory of Dr. Myrlene Kennedy who had produced the FHS Musical for the past 45 years. Dr. Kennedy lost her battle with cancer on January 12, 2014 and the company places flowers on her favorite theatre seat before each performance each night.
“We are very proud of the students who have done an outstanding job on every area of performance from tapping, to mastering the musical score to the set design, production management and construction. We work very hard to make our production student driven, providing real world real time experience. Our technical theatre students worked with a lighting designer to construct, hang and program a lighting marquee for the finale,” Powdrell said. “Equally we are especially proud of our student technical director, Mitchell Mills who interfaced with the directors, vendors, student actors, student set crew, lighting crew and parent volunteers to make the production process work smoothly.”
