Friendswood Swimmers and Diver Compete in 6A State Championship Meet

FHS had 12 swimmers and 1 diver compete at State.

FHS had 12 swimmers and 1 diver compete at State.

The 6A State Swimming and Diving Championship Meet was held February 20th and 21st in Austin at the Texas Swim Center. The Friendswood High School State Team included 12 swimmers and 1 diver.

The Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay of Cassie Nagle, Sydney Gurry, Gina Fossati and Katie Kosinski placed 12th with a time of 1:50.36 and the Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay of Sydney Gurry, Gina Fossati, Sadie Wilson and Katie Kosinski also placed 12th with a time of 3:35.65. The Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay of James Tomerlin, Matt Garry, Daniel Theall and Mark Theall placed 13th with a time of 1:39.72.

Katie Kosinski was the only Friendswood swimmer to compete in individual events. Katie tied for 11th place in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.32 and in the 100 Yard Freestyle Katie placed 11th with a time of 52.94.

Michael Claunch represented Friendswood High School as a State diver.

Michael Claunch represented Friendswood in the 1 Meter Diving Event placing 12th with a total of 366.10 points.

The Friendswood Girls finished the meet in 24th place with 31.5 points and the Friendswood Boys finished 43rd with 13 points.  Coach John Little, “I thought they did a great job for our first experience at the 6A State Meet.”
