The Friendswood Varsity Computer Science team went to a programming contest at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth this past Saturday in preparation for the UIL regional meet this Friday at CY Woods.
Code Quest is a computer programming competition consisting of 15 questions of varying points created by Lockheed Martin engineers and computer programmers. Teams of three students work together for 2.5 hours to program the problems and complete the Quest.
After the contest, the students were able to tour the warehouse where the LM F-35 Lightning Fighter Planes are manufactured! This was an amazing tour where students learned that the planes are mainly made up of computers that need millions of lines of code in order to function! They had the opportunity to view the planes being put together in various stages.
Our team placed fourth in the Advanced Division. Only the Plano schools scored higher.
Attached is a picture of the team in front of the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics building.
Please wish this team the best of luck as we compete in our UIL Regional Competition this Friday afternoon.
