PLW-1This semester the students in the Project Lead the Way Civil Engineering and Architecture Course set out to design the train station for the proposed bullet train from Houston to Dallas as part of the Michael G Meyers Design Competition sponsored by the AIA, American Institute of Architecture.

The proposed site was just across Buffalo Bayou and the Sesquicentennial Park. The property was large and had a wonderful view of downtown Houston.

The design challenge included a requirement to incorporate 2 more modes of transportation and the design must utilize 2 sustainable design features as well as take advantage of the exciting location.

PLW-2Four teams submitted their design to the competition and design created by Blaire Bourgeois, Drew Williams, and Daniel Mathew won 2nd place in the team category.

They were awarded an $800 scholarship, a scholarship to attend the U of H Summer Discovery Program for Architecture, and a Houston Architecture book.
