Nineteen students from Friendswood High School went to the University of Texas A&M in College Station on March 3, to tour and visit the School of Education.
“I now am considering going to Texas A&M after my visit. It is the second largest producer of Texas teachers with the best retention rate after 5 years of teaching” said junior, Lauren Williams. Senior Jessica Steed said, “I learned about the major differences between college life vs. high school life. Being on the campus made me really excited and I look forward to attending A&M in the fall!”
The Ready Set Teach Program, in it’s second year offers teacher training while in high school. The class is filled with eager students who look forward to working with elementary and junior high teachers who allow the students to participate in the many areas in which teachers are involved.
Ready Set Teach is one of many career paths now being offered to help high school students decide on a field of study they may pursue while at college.
