Greetings from the University of Oklahoma!

It’s hard to believe another school year has flown by. It seems like just yesterday campus was buzzing with OU students starting the fall semester and high school seniors starting the college application and selection journey. We hope this year has been as successful for you as it has been here in Norman. Your students continue to be the best part of our jobs and we appreciate all you do to support them. We value our partnership with you throughout this process and while we certainly hope your students choose the University of Oklahoma, we appreciate the opportunity to work with you to ensure all students find success in life after high school.
I am excited to share with you that this year OU has experienced an unprecedented level of interest from prospective students. As you know, we moved our deadlines earlier and even with that change, we had an almost 15% increase from the highest number of applications in OU history. Truly, OU is a school on the rise and in high demand. While this increase is exciting, it certainly made the admissions process more challenging. The admissions committee was regularly impressed by the quality of the applicant pool and the earlier application deadlines have allowed us to make admission decisions earlier than ever before. While we continue to review our wait list and new applications on a space available basis, having most of our admissions offers out earlier helps students in the selection process and helps the university better plan for their arrival in the fall.
Please remind students to be cognizant of the May 1 National College Decision Day deadline. As you know, students have until this day, which is indicated in their admission letter, to submit their $250 enrollment commitment and reserve their space at OU. After May 1, we will continue to allow students to submit their enrollment commitment on a space-available basis. Should space be full at that time, or at any time after, we will work with families to discuss alternative plans.
After students submit their enrollment commitment, they can then sign up for the New Sooner Enrollment Program and get ready for the fall semester.
As always, please let us know if we can be of help to you and your students in the process.  We look forward to welcoming your new Sooners to campus!
Sincerely,
