Fall Signing Day 2016

Eight Friendswood High School athletes signed letters of intent on National Signing Day November 9, 2016 on campus. The eight consist of (sitting) Sadie Wilson (Volleyball US Air Force Academy), Kelly Colwell (Volleyball, HBU), Jordan Pleasants (Volleyball at New Mexico State University), Shannon Murphy (Volleyball Pepperdine University), (Standing) Mark Theall (Swimming at University of Nevada Las Vegas), Jake Revere (Baseball Tulane University), Rylan Kaufman (Baseball at San Jacinto Junior College), and Karney Linch (Track and Field University of Texas at San Antonio). Joining them were Athletic Director Robert Koopmann and FHS Principal Mark Griffon.

Rylan Kaufman, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play baseball for San Jacinto Junior College. He was joined at the signing by his Baseball Coach Steve Hecker and Athletic Director Robert Koopmann.

Jake Revere, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Tulane University. He was joined at the signing by his Coach Steve Hecker, Principal Mark Griffon and Athletic Director Robert Koopmann.

Sadie Wilson, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to swim for the United States Air Force Academy. At FHS, she was a member of PALs, National Honor Society, was Mighty the FHS Mascot, in the Drama Club and Theatre. Wilson was joined at the signing by her mother Danielle Wilson, her sisters Kay and Lillie, brothers Cliff and Presley, swim coach John Little and Athletic Director Robert Koopmann.

Mark Theall, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to swim for University of Nevada – Las Vegas. At FHS, he was also a member of PALs, and the Aquastar team. He was joined at the signing by his parents Jeff and Anne Theall, swim coach John Little and Athletic Director Robert Koopmann.

Jordan Pleasants, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for New Mexico State University. At FHS she was 1st team All-District 2016, Academic All-District, All tournament team George Ranch, and FHS single season dig leader record holder. She is joined at the signing by her parents, Billie and Brian Pleasants, Grandparents George and Cheryl Scruggs, and brother Parker Pleasants.

Shannon Murphy, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Pepperdine University where she plans to study Business. At FHS, she was named to 1st Team All-District 2015 and 2016, All Tournament team George Ranch and NWISD, TAVC preseason All-State, GHVCA Fab 50 preseason, ranked 2nd in FHS history for kills in a season, and 2015 2nd Team All-State. Shannon was joined at the signing by her parents Terri and Allen Murphy, and her sister Megan Murphy.

Kelly Colwell, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Houston Baptist University where she plans to study Nursing. At FHS, she was a member of the National Honor Society Link Crew and PALs. She was a 1st team All-District 2015, GHVCA Fab 50 Preseason, and ranked 3rd in FHS history for kills in a season. She was joined at the signing by her parents Julie and Larry Colwell, her sister, Kimberly Colwell, and cousins Mason and Mary Barnes.

Karney Linch, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent for Track and Field (Pole Vault) for University of Texas at San Antonio. At FHS, he not only participated in track but he played football for four years and played baseball his freshman year. He won 1st Place District 24-6A Varsity Pole Vault (2014 & 2016) as well as 2016 Gulf Coast Scholastic Track Coaches Assoc. Honorable Mention All-State. He was joined at the signing by his parents Jerry and Kathy Linch, his brother Kooper, Club Coach Glenn Colivas, High School Track Coaches Steve Haffelder and Bruce Bolden.
