Wranglerettes win Nationals

The Friendswood High School Wranglerettes finished their season in style winning the National Championship title at the Marching Auxiliaries competition this weekend in Fort Worth. The team won first place in Team Jazz, Team Hip-Hop, 2nd place in Team Contemporary, and third place in Team Kick.

The dance officers were also named National Grand Champions out of 21 teams in Lyrical, Jazz and Open and Prop. The social officers won 1st place with their Dream Ensemble, third place with the Illusion Ensemble and the Dream Ensemble won second. The Officers won Officer Squad jackets for winning the Championship.

Out of 170 Solo finalists the Friendswood solos included: Courtney Banfield winning third place, Payton Montemayor winning sixth, Caroline Velek winning 8th place and Emily Epperson winning 11th place. Out of the 110 solo category Haley Weger took 7th place
with Isabelle Naylor taking 6th place.

The Wranglerettes were presented with the Kelsey Michelsen Sportsmanship award voted on by the staff of Marching Auxiliaries for exemplifying outstanding character and principles.

The Wranglerette Directors are Alyssa Goza and Katelyn Gallagher.
