Principal Mark Griffon announces the 50th Anniversary of FHS Musical Title: The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
This Musical will serve as the backdrop for the 50th-Anniversary Celebration of the FHS Musical History.
‘Hunchback’ will be the 25th Title in the 50-year History of FHS Musical.
FHS Musical is proud to be the first Texas High School premiere of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, on stage in the Dr. Myrlene Kennedy Auditorium – February 2, 3, 4 and 9, 10, 11 2018.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a love story of the beautiful gypsy girl Esmeralda, the scorned bell-ringer Quasimodo and the dashing Captain Phoebus.
Director Kathy Powdrell says “We started the selection process in April 2017. Dr. Kennedy’s tradition was to make careful title choices and then to keep it a secret until the Principal announced during a school day. It is always an ANTICIPATED reveal. The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a powerful rendition of the timeless tale and the perfect musical to celebrate the power of FHS Musical in our students lives, the Friendswood High School tradition and an exciting NEW show to celebrate Dr. Myrlene Kennedy’s legacy here at FHS Musical.”
FHS Musical Students will create fifteenth-century Paris and inside the cathedral walls made famous by Victor Hugo’s novel.
The production team is lead by Kathy Powdrell, director – Michael Tyer, choral – Julio Sanchez, pit band – Alyssa Goza, Choreography – Cale Borne, set construction – Amy Thornton, production manager – Pepper Smith, tickets.
An FHS 50th Musical Celebration for alumnus is in the works with many ways to remember and honor such an outstanding Fine Arts Tradition here at Friendswood High School.
