FHS National Fall Signing Day

Nine Friendswood High School athletes signed letters of intent on National Signing Day November 8, 2017 on campus. The nine consist of (sitting) Natalie Abowd (Volleyball St. Edwards University), Madison Weisinger, (Volleyball Texas Lutheran University), Kylie Lockhart (Volleyball Nicholls State University), Faith Marabella (Volleyball University of Arkansas Fort-Smith) and Kendall Cross (Softball Baylor University) . (Standing) Hart Holtzclaw (Golf Jefferson State Community College), Brandon Deskins, (Baseball Rice University), Johnnie Nemecek (Baseball United States Merchant Marine Academy), Garrett McGregor (Cross-Country Mississippi College). Joining them were Athletic Director Robert Koopmann and FHS Principal Mark Griffon.

Baseball
Johnnie Nemecek, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play baseball at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He is the current President of Saluting Our Soldier and President of the Fishing Club. He was named to the 2017 24-6A 1st Team All-District and 2017 All-Houston Team. Nemecek is joined at the signing by his parents John and Diane Nemecek, brother Jackson Nemecek, Pamela Redpath and Coach Steve Hecker.

Baseball
Brandon Deskins, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Rice University. He was named to the 2107 All-County Honors Team, 2017 24-6A 1st Team All-District, Houston 6A Junior All-Star Team and was on the Perfect Game Top 500 Prospect List. Deskins was joined at the signing by his parents Matt and Katherine Deskins-Hill, brother Chris Deskins, Grandmother Cathy Deskins, Grandparents Darrell and Xuan Moulton, Uncle Andy Moulton and Stepbrother Graham Hill and FHS Coach Steve Hecker.

Cross-Country
Garrett McGregor, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to run Cross-Country for Mississippi College. He is currently the Secretary of International Thespian Society and a member of the National Technical Honor Society. He was named 2017 Team Captain, a 2017 State Qualifier, All-District Team and All-Region Team. McGregor is joined at the signing by his parents Craig and Cherry McGregor, siblings Gracen and Gabriella McGregor, and Coach Steve Hecker.

Golf
Hart Holtzclaw, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play golf for Jefferson State Community College. He is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. He was named 2016 Houston Junior Golf Association Player of the Year. Holtzclaw was joined at the signing by his parents Tom and Stacey Holtzclaw.

Softball
Kendall Cross, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play softball for Baylor University. She was named on the 2017 2nd Team All-County, 2017, 2016 and 2015 All- District and 2015 FHS Offensive Player of the Year. Cross was joined at the signing by her parents Terry and Elaine Cross, Coach Kelsey Lawton and FHS Coaches Christa Yates and Kevin Parr.

Volleyball
Natalie Abowd, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball with St. Edwards University. She is currently the Secretary of her Senior Class, a member of FHS Link Crew, National Honor Society and was on the Homecoming Court. While at FHS she was a Varsity Captain, 2017 1st Team All-District, 2017 2nd Team All-County, VYPE 2016 Middle Blocker of the Year, 2016 Defensive Player of the Year, and 24-6A District New Comer of the Year. Abowd was joined by her parents Matt and Michelle Abowd, brother Nick Abowd, Grandmother Margo Clements, Aunt Alice Rogers and Coaches Suzy Buchele and Nancy Cole, FHS Coaches Sarah Paulk, Shayna Sauers and Kristin Goodman.

Volleyball
Kylie Lockhart, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball with Nicholls State University. Lockhart is a member of the FHS Principals Roundtable, Superintendent’s Advisory Committee and a Safe School Ambassador. She was named 2017 Varsity Team Captain, Freshman Team Captain, 1st Team All-District and 24-6A Defensive Player of the Year. She was joined by her parents Lael and Nancy Lockhart, brothers Lael Jr. and Kyle Lockhart, Club Coach Jerry Linch, Trainers Megan Duncan, Jonathan Utsey and Chris Grasty, FHS coaches Sarah Paulk, Shayna Sauers and Kristin Goodman and Principal Mark Griffon.

Volleyball
Faith Marabella, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball with University of Arkansas Fort-Smith. Marabella is on the FHS Link Crew and a four-year Letterman and 2017 Team Captain. She was named 2017 Offensive Player of the Year and 2016 2nd Team All-District. She was joined by her parents Jeff and Stephanie Marabella, brother Berkley, Grandparents Mike and Sue Armstrong, Club Coaches Jerry Linch and Lauren Ellison and FHS coaches Sarah Paulk, Shayna Sauers and Kristin Goodman.

Madison Weisinger, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball with Texas Lutheran University. She was joined by her parents Randy and Tammy Weisinger, sister Mckenna Weisinger, Mona Ray Dudley, Claire Dudley and Jane Mitchell, FHS Coaches Sarah Paulk, Shayna Sauers and Kristin Goodman.
