May 18 - Senior Field Day: All seniors must be cleared through the Assistant Principal’s office to attend field day. They can also pick up the field day permission slip (if not already completed). They will receive a bright pink ticket that needs to be kept with them to get on the bus to travel to the park. Seniors will not be permitted to drive their own vehicles. An early bus will be provided for students in the FHS work program. Seniors must be clear of all fines and make-up hours to receive a ticket. This bright pink ticket will be given to a teacher before getting on the bus and will be used for the gift drawing. Upon arriving at the park, students will receive their lunch ticket for Chick-fil-a. There will also be lots of snacks. Senior students must meet in the cafeteria at 8:15 am.
*Students are encouraged to bring sunscreen, items for swimming, volleyballs, basketballs, hammocks, etc.
May 20 - Senior class pictures: Seniors should report to the Girls Gym, in your cap and gown, at 3:30pm for the 2018 Class and 12-Year Senior pictures. Caps and gowns ($75) and the honor cords ($10) Balfour supplies may be purchased in Principal Griffon’s office.
*A community motivational program will follow in Dr. Myrlene Kennedy Auditorium at 4:00pm. Student attendance is optional.
May 23 - Graduation practice: Rehearsal for the commencement exercises will be held in the Auditorium during an assembly schedule. All seniors must be present if they plan to participate in the commencement exercises. This is a very important date; please mark it on your calendar. If your student does not intend to participate in the graduation ceremony, please contact or come by Principal Griffon’s office to confirm.
May 26 – Prom: Prom tickets will go on sale during all lunches beginning Wednesday, May 16 and ending Friday, May 25 in the cafeteria. Students must be cleared of all obligations to purchase tickets. If you are bringing an outside guest to prom, there is a form in Principal Griffon’s office or online at:
May 29 - Senior sunset: Students will meet in the Natatorium field at 7:30pm. This should last about 30-45 minutes. Students will watch the sunset together and make a wish for the future.
June 2 - Graduation: Don Coleman Community Coliseum, 1050 N Dairy Ashford Rd, Houston, Texas 77077; Phone: 281.560.7651. Doors will open to the public and students will arrive at 12:30pm; Commencement program will begin promptly at 2:00pm. Students will receive their stole and graduation envelope at the coliseum. There are no tickets. Seats are first come, first serve with a maximum of saving 10 unoccupied seats; no tape permitted. All seat released at 1:45pm.
