If you’ve had or heard a conversation recently about school it has more than likely included the topic of safety. Erich Kreiter is currently the Executive Director of Operations at Friendswood ISD and is in the process of transitioning into the Executive Director of Safety and Operations for FISD after the retirement of Joel Hannemann.
“I believe school safety is the most critical challenge we face today and I will do everything possible to make sure every child that comes to school returns home safely,” said Erich Kreiter.
Kreiter is a 21-year veteran of the Armed Forces. He served in both the United States Marine
Corps and United States Army. He most recently came from Clear Creek ISD where he served as Director of Safe and Secure Schools.
Kreiter's extensive security and law enforcement career includes: Marksmanship Instructor,
Military Police Patrol Officer, SWAT officer in charge, Vulnerability Assessment Officer, Patrol Supervisor, Intelligence Officer, Platoon Sergeant (Iraq), Military Police Operations Officer,
First Sergeant, Emergency Services Operations Officer, Force Protection Officer, Security Advisor (NATO) North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Director of Safe and Secure Schools.
Kreiter's law enforcement training and education: Master of Arts, Management and Leadership, Bachelor of Science Criminal Justice, Marksmanship Instructor, Military Police, Anti-Terrorism Officer, Anti-Terrorism for the Patrol Officer, Physical Security, Domestic Violence, SWAT, Resilience Training, Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Course, NIMS Certified, De-Escalation Verbal Judo, Crime Prevention, Intelligence Collection and Gathering, Investigations, Personal Security, Fire Protection, Basic Law Enforcement Academy, Advanced Law Enforcement Academy, Traffic Investigations, K9 Training and Management, School Safety Certification.
During his 21-year career, he received numerous commendations ranging from Certificates to a Bronze Star. Erich completed two tours of duty as a Military Policeman in Iraq and has completed various Security and Vulnerability Assessments for Military Installations, Forward Operating Bases, and School Districts.
Kreiter has also worked on Presidential Security details for former Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama as well as conducted security for many other high-ranking government officials. He also conducted security and transport of Iraqi high-value detainees to include the former dictator Saddam Hussein.
“I served my country for 21 years, and now I look forward to serving my community,” said Kreiter.
Kreiter and his family are current residents of Friendswood. He has a son and daughter who attend FHS.
