Small Town, Big Sound is back

Friendswood High School Marching Band will take the field and perform an exhibition at 9 p.m. at their annual Marching Band Competition on Saturday, September 29.

The Friendswood High School Marching Festival known as Small Town, Big Sound will take place on Sept. 29 at Henry Winston Stadium. The event is open to the public and gates will open at 11:30 a.m.

Small Town, Big Sound is a marching band competition where local 4A, 5A and 6A high schools will be scored on their percussion, auxiliary, general effect, visual performance and music performance. Participating bands include: Angleton High School (5A), Ball High School (5A), Clear Brook High School (6A), Clear Falls High School (6A), Clear Lake High School (6A), Dawson High School (6A), Dickinson High School (6A), J. Frank Dobie High School (6A), Little Cypress Mauriceville High School (4A), North Shore High School (6A), Oak Ridge High School (6A), Pearland High School (6A), Stephen F. Austin High School (6A), Texas City High School (5A) and Waller High School (5A).

The stadium will close at 5 p.m. when the preliminaries end, and reopen at 6 p.m. for the start of finals. The FHS marching band will perform at 9 p.m. Tickets for an all-day pass cost $15 each and tickets for preliminaries or finals only will cost $10 each. Children age five and under are admitted free of charge.

Limited parking is available in the parking lot next to the stadium and at the natatorium. Satellite parking is available at Westwood/Bales with shuttle bus service from the parking lot adjacent to Stadium Lane.
