Mark Griffon | Mustang Talk Podcast
Mr. Griffon graduated from Friendswood HS in 1978 and then earned a BS in Biology and a Masters in Administration and Supervision both from Texas Tech University. Mr. Griffon received a Mid-Management Certification from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. He holds a Superintendent Certification from Texas Southern University. Mr Griffon taught science for 14 years at Friendswood HS and was also the Head Basketball coach for 11 years.
He joined the administrative team at Friendswood HS in 2000 as an Assistant Principal. Mr. Griffon was the Associate Principal at FHS for one year and then the Executive Director of Administrative Operations for the district for one year before returning to Friendswood HS as the Principal.
Nancy Lockhart Gifted & Talented Coordinator
Mrs. Lockhart has her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education 6th -12th grades from the University of New Orleans and earned her Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and Principal Certification from the University of Houston. She taught middle school and high school mathematics in Louisiana and was also responsible for the remediation of at risk students. Mrs. Lockhart and her husband moved to Friendswood in 1996. She taught at FHS, in the math department, for seven years then joined the administrative team as an Assistant Principal. In 2007, she moved to Clear Lake High School to be the Dean of Instruction for one year before returning to Friendswood ISD as the Director of Student Success.
Mrs. Cole has her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a Secondary Certification from Texas A&M University and earned her Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston. She and her family moved to Friendswood in 1996 and have raised their four children here in the district. Mrs. Cole began teaching math at FHS in 1989, served as Math Specialist for several years, and then joined the administrative team as an Assistant Principal in 2015.
Chad Jones (Alpha Group Ri-Z)
Mr. Jones has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology (emphasis in sports medicine) from Lamar University (1995). He also has a Master’s in Education Administration from Lamar University (2009). Over 16 years Mr. Jones served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Santa Fe HS (1996-1998), J. Frank Dobie HS (1998-2004), and Pearland HS (2004-2012). In 2012, he became an Assistant Principal at Brazoswood HS (2012-2015). Mr. Jones joined the staff of Friendswood HS in 2015 as an Assistant Principal.
Delaney Lyon (Alpha Group Le-Rh)
Mrs. Lyon earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English and Secondary Education from Texas State University in 2009. She then taught 8th grade English for two years in Pflugerville ISD at Kelly Lane Middle School, where she also served as a the UIL Academic Coordinator, UIL Ready & Editorial Writing Coach, and Co-Soccer coach. Mrs. Lyon then relocated to the hill country in Boerne and taught 7th and 8th grade Reading Intervention and served as the Dyslexia Specialist. While teaching at Boerne Middle School North, Mrs. Lyon earned her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from University of Texas – San Antonio in 2015. This is Mrs. Lyon’s first year in Friendswood ISD and she is very excited to become an active participant in the Mustang family!
Glen Newsom (Alpha Group A – Eq)
Mr. Newsom has his Bachelor of Arts in both English and Political Science from UHCL and his Masters in Education Administration from Lamar University. He taught and coached in Hitchcock ISD for 15 years before coming to Friendswood in 2010. At Friendswood High School Mr. Newsom taught Junior and Senior English and coached varsity football and baseball up until last year when he accepted the job as an Assistant Principal. Mr. Newsom has been married for 29 years, has three children, and is currently up to three grandchildren.
Paul Tucker (Alpha Group Er –La)
Mr. Tucker earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Masters in Education Administration from UHCL. He spent four years as a teacher and administrator in Santa Fe ISD. After moving to FISD, Mr. Tucker taught AP Economics and Government for seven years at FHS before moving into administration. He also coached basketball and football during his education career. Mr. Tucker has been married to his wife Kay for 35 years, and four children, and five grandchildren. He loves fishing and traveling Texas with his wife.
