At Friendswood High School, 21 seniors have been named as Commended Students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program and were honored Monday night at the School Board meeting.
A letter of commendation from FHS and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) which conducts the program, was presented by the principal to each student.
The students include James Barr, Yarden Borshevsky-Barr, Dalton Bui, Anton Chen, Jenna Chenette, Mary Donovan, Stephen Du, Zachary Follis, Nathalie Heimeyer, Ryan Kuehnle, Jean Kureyama, Dante Marcuccio, Cameron Norris, Elizabeth O’Donnell, Alexander Ohrmundt, Sarah Palmer, Yazeed Radwan, Zachary Riggs, Gabriella Rodriquez, Brandon Thint and Yuqi Xu.
About 34,000 Commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
Although they will not continue in the 2017 competition for Merit Scholarship Awards, Commended students placed among the top five percent of more than one million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
