Friendswood ISD hosted its third annual Under the Oaks celebration on Thursday, Aug. 8 to kickstart a new school year. Just over 300 people were in attendance.
It was an evening of fellowship for the students, parents, staff and community to hear from Superintendent Thad Roher and other staff about the 2019-2020 school year. The celebration included the opportunity to visit with the FISD family over kettle corn and lemonade while enjoying performances by the FHS band, FHS cheer and the Wranglerettes.
“Under the Oaks is always a great way to get everyone excited for the first day of school,” Roher said. “A big part of our strategic plan for the next five years is to increase community involvement with our district, and Under the Oaks is a great vessel for doing that.”
