FHS honors Top Ten Graduates

Despite having to adjust to a new way of distance learning, the Top 10 Friendswood High School graduates have been named. The FHS leadership team, led by Principal Mark Griffon, traveled to each student’s house on Friday, May 1 to deliver a congratulatory message and yard sign while maintaining social distancing.

Valedictorian for the Class of 2020 is Anushka Jetly. She will be attending Harvard University this fall to major in Molecular and Cellular Biology on the pre-med track. During her time at FHS, Jetly was involved with Academic Decathlon, Science Fair, National Honor Society, UIL Academics, Math & Science Club, and National English Honor Society. She received many awards including National Merit Finalist and Scholarship recipient, Regeneron Science Talent Search Finalist, Intel ISEF Finalist, Presidential Scholars Candidate, National AP Scholar, Science and Engineering Fair of Houston Grand Award Winner and 1st Place Bioengineering category, Texas State Science and Engineering Fair Academy of Audiology Award.

Grayson Merritt is the FHS Salutatorian.  He will attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Computer Science and Neurology. Merritt involvements include the Touchdown Club Football Scholar Athlete Finalist, National Merit Commended Scholar, Superintendent Student Advisory Committee, National AP Scholar, Texas Boys State County and State Delegate, HOBY Leadership Ambassador.

Maria Larina is third in the Top 10. She plans to pursue a major in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin.  

Fourth ranked in Alice Nguyen. She plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Business Honors and Management Information Systems. 

Nicole Mbibi finished fifth in her graduating class. Mbibi will attend Columbia University and study Biochemistry with the pre-med track.

Shannon McGill is sixth in the Top 10. She plans to attend Rice University and major in Bioengineering.

Seventh ranked is Pradhitha Boppana. She will study Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.

Katherine Ratliff is ranked eighth. She plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Chemical Engineering.

Ninth ranked is Joshua Bickham. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in Computational Engineering.

Jason Thomas is ranked tenth in the FHS class of 2020. He plans to study Public Health at the University of Texas at Austin.
