FHS Theatre’s Matilda the Musical opens Jan. 31

Friendswood High School’s 53rd musical, Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, is set to open on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at the Dr. Myrlene Kennedy Auditorium at FHS. Other performances include Feb. 1, Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 at 7 p.m., and Feb. 2 and Feb. 9 at 2:30 p.m.

Matilda the Musical tells the story of an extraordinary girl named Matilda. Matilda is witty and manages to thrive despite her cruel parents with the help of librarian Mrs. Phelps and her teacher Miss Honey. This show offers high energy choreography and a few special effects such as fog, haze, strobe lights, and blacklights.

The FHS musical cast is led by senior Taylor Greny in the title role and senior Eric Jensen as Miss Trunchbull. Other cast members include seniors Taylor Campbell, Thomas Massey, Brittany Harris, and Robbie Hope. Student designers and technicians include seniors Margaret Otto, Ethan Evans, Gabriela Weakley, Keana Jazdyk, Jana Ryan, Meg Dodson and Soleil Gignac.
