FHS Varsity football player to be given Comeback Athlete Award

Justin Lowe, Varsity Mustang football player, has not completed a full football season in his high school career but that has not stopped him from keeping a positive attitude nor from being passionate about playing.

This attitude and passion along with the ability to play again have won an award for him. Lowe will be receiving The Comeback Athlete Award given from the Sports Medicine Department of CHRISTUS St. John Hospital.

The athletic trainers there along with the doctors submit names of athletes that had sustained a significant and sometimes possibly season-ending injury.

Dr. Dan O’Neill and Athletic Trainer Jonathan Utsey  nominated Lowe this year. Lowe has had three ACL surgeries in his short career, starting in eighth grade.

Lowe currently starts on the defensive side of the ball for the Mustangs.

He will be featured in the hospital’s LiveWell magazine with his award.

Lowe’s mom is an FISD teacher at Friendswood Junior High.

Utsey is not only affiliated with CHRISTUS St. John Hospitalbut also works as an athletic trainer for Friendswood High School.
