FISD at Boys Nation

J.C. Mills, a student at Friendswood HS, was chosen as one of two Boys State representatives from Texas to attend the American Legion Boys Nation in Washington D.C.

At the convention, Mills and other young leaders will receive an education on the structure and function of federal government. At each event, each delegate will act as a senator from his Boys State. Senators learn the proper method of handling bills, according to U.S. Senate rules.

Mills will report to Marymount University where he will stay for the duration of the week. In addition, he will travel to Capitol Hill to meet with the current elected officials representing Texas and be mentored in the area of lawmaking.

Since Boys Nation began in 1946, a number of its graduates have been elected to public office, including presidents, congressmen, state governors and state legislators. Many others have been inspired to work for the campaigns of individuals seeking public office.
