FISD introduces three new hires

The FISD Board of Trustees approved three new hires during its virtual Board meeting on Monday, May 11.

Ashley Birmingham has been named an Assistant Principal at Friendswood High School. She has been employed in FISD for 11 years and active on the FHS campus from the start. She has helped coach UIL students, Academic Decathlon, Academic Octathlon, senior class sponsor, and, for the past five years, she has worked as the Social Studies Team Leader.  Birmingham is also responsible for a quality Advanced Placement curriculum to be honed and delivered to her students. She participated in FISD’s Learning Leaders Academy this year, and she will graduate with her Master’s in Education in August. 

Gretchen Meyer has been hired for the new administrative position of Elementary Instructional Coordinator. She is finishing her nineteenth year in education this spring. She has been at Clear Creek ISD for 11 of those years, serving as a teacher, team leader, and instructional coach. She has an extensive Language Arts background. Meyer has taught at many grade levels, spanning from second grade through eighth grade, and has been a team leader at most of those levels. She has an undergraduate degree from Lamar University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas State University.

Emily Stanley has 12 years of K-3 teaching experience, three of those at Westwood Elementary. This past year, Stanley served as a Math Instructional Coach at two elementary schools in Clear Creek ISD. 

Stanley comes back to FISD with the literacy component and training in her repertoire, as well as the experience working with the match curriculum. She has experience leading LPAC and PLC meetings, as well as planning and facilitating professional learning.  Stanley has supported teachers this past year with their T-TESS goals in her role as an instructional coach. She has also guided numerous professional development activities and initiatives.  She is also a proud member of the FHS class of 1999.
