The Friendswood Junior High Choir has been busy spreading the holiday cheer for allto hear. The seventh and eighth grade women traveled to three Friendswood assisted living facilities this past Saturday to sing favorite holiday songs with the residents.
“It wasa beautiful experience to share across three generations while our young l eaders encouraged and inspired everyone to sing familiar carols together,” Choir teacher Laura Rachita said.
Later that evening, the entire Choir department, which exceeds 300 students, gathered at school for an evening filled with food, fun, and fellowship.
Continuing the spirit of thinking of others before yourself, the Choir officers decided to something a little different in lieu of a traditional gift exchange between the choir members. Students were encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal that will be donated to organizations that work with children in crisis situations. Theywill proudly be able to give nearly 200 cuddly bears to our first responders who rescue and comfort little children.
The Friendswood Choir Department is under the direction of Laura Rachita and Carrie Hall.
The holiday concert will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 6:30 pm at Friendswood United Methodist Church. All seven choirs will perform in a concert that will be just over an hour in length.
