One year after Hurricane Harvey struck the Houston area, Friendswood ISD has decided to commemorate the efforts of good citizenship and outstanding humanitarian efforts made by the Friendswood community in its time of need. The District will be holding a time of recognition at 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 26 in the Friendswood High School cafeteria.
Friendswood High School served as a shelter for many who were forced out of their homes during the storm. Though the building served as a barrier to the elements, the people who came to help were what made FHS a safe haven. Volunteers immediately got to work in gathering supplies and helping clean up homes that were damaged.
It is because of this camaraderie FISD would like to invite the community to come out to remember the good that was done in a time where giving hearts and kind souls were needed more than ever. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided, speakers will inspire the crowd and everyone will be free to stand in unity just as they did one year ago. FISD hopes to see you there.
