As a new school year rapidly approaches, Friendswood ISD would like to remind parents and students of a few changes that have been implemented for the 2018-2019 school year. These changes come in response to a parent survey about the calendar, a growing desire for embedded professional learning and committee recommendations in order to better serve our students. To stay within the regulation of state law, the number of minutes students attend class each day needed to increase from 425 minutes to 428 minutes each day to accommodate for an earlier release date and more professional development days. All of our campuses are affected by this change.
Listed below are the new school times:
- Cline Elementary 7:35 – 2:43
- Windsong Intermediate 8:10 – 3:18
- Westwood Elementary 7:55 – 3:03
- Bales Intermediate 7:55 – 3:03
- Friendswood Jr High 8:45 – 3:53
- Friendswood High School 8:45 – 3:53
Because of these time changes, there have also been changes made to the bus routes. Be sure to visit myfisd.com/trans to see where your bus will be stopping, the time of arrival and additional information regarding transportation. As in the past, we ask for students to be at the bus stop at least five minutes before the scheduled arrival time to ensure a faster, more effective pick-up. During the first two weeks, there may be some delays because our drivers are learning their new routes, so we thank you in advance for your patience.
Friendswood ISD is excited for the start of school on Aug. 15 and hopes you are too.
