Friendswood ISD receives $10,000 from Doiron Golf Tournament

The Legends of Friendswood non-profit group known for its annual golf tournament honoring the memory of Mike Doiron recently donated $10,000 to Friendswood ISD’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Program. The money came from the tournament held last June.

“Our goal with this donation is to reach as many students as possible K-12,” said President Marilyn Doiron.

The donation will be used to purchase a Google Expedition Virtual Reality Kit for a class of 30 students. The cart will be used K-12 across the curriculum through the campus media centers.

“This will provide our students with the tools they need to excel in the STEM fields, said STEM Coordinator Susan Kirkpatrick. “Their commitment to the FISD STEM program is greatly appreciated!”

Presenting the check were Legends representatives Marilyn Doiron, Susan Doiron, Forest Williams, Trey Hill, Jennifer Anderson and school representatives accepting the check included Superintendent Trish Hanks, Assistant Superintendent Lynn Hobratschk, Assistant Superintendent Diane Myers, and Stem Coordinator Susan Kirkpatrick.

Legends golf tournament began in 1990 and since that time has given FISD more than $150,000 for students and teachers
