Texas Thespians has chosen Friendswood High School Theatre Troupe 1084 as one of the five Texas Thespian Troupes from across the state selected to perform on the main stage at this year’s annual State Festival on Nov. 21-23. The festival is set to be held at the Gaylord Convention Center in Grapevine, TX.
Texas Thespians is one of the largest chapters in the nation of the Education Theatre Associationwhich sponsors the International Thespian. According to its website, “the Texas Thespians is dedicated to honoring excellence in theater by encouraging and improving the skills of theatre students and their educators throughout the state of Texas.”
FHS submitted its recent original production White Noise, a spoken word piece that explores the issues high school students face as they approach 2020, to the Texas Thespians through video and photos for their consideration, and was chosen. FHS students who will be performing include: Lauren Ballard, Olivia Beken, Ashley Campbell. Taylor Campbell, Rylee Dever, Meg Dodson, Chase Donovan, Emma Ferro, Dean Galloway, Soleil Gignac, Taylor Greny, Hayden Hobbs, Keana Jazdyk, Eric Jensen, Luke Johnstone, Balint Kidd, Thomas Massey, Maris Morgan, Margaret Otto, Tara Ryan, Skylynn Smith, Nelson Thornton, Logan Tunnel, Emily Vu and Gabby Weakley. FHS Thespian officers Taylor Greny, Eric Jensen, Margaret Otto, Taylor Campbell and Olivia Beken will lead the group of actors and technical students.
