Friendswood Wranglerettes Named State Champions

The Friendswood High School Wranglerettes attended the Crowd Pleasers State Dance Competition at Cy-Ranch High School on Saturday, Feb. 29 and won the title of Overall State Champions. In addition to be named the Overall Grand Champion team, they walked away with many more awards. The team won first place in its Extra Large Team category which included placing first with its jazz, kick, lyrical, and production dances.  The team placed second with its pom dance. The jazz routine tied as the highest scoring team dance of the competition.   

The Officer group also won first place in its Extra Large Team category and won second place officer team overall. The officers won first place with their jazz and open routines and second place with their lyrical dance. The social officers won second place in their dance category.

In the medium ensemble division, the Wranglerette Dream ensemble won first place and the Illusion ensemble took home second place. In the large ensemble division, the Hip Hop Dubb Crew won first place.

The Wranglerettes also came home with several solo awards. In the senior 17-18 age division, Bella Guminey won first place with her solo, and KirbyJane Landry took home fourth place. In the junior 14-15 age category, Elaina Chong won first place, Caroline Hebert took home fourth place and Rachael Guminey won seventh place. The Wranglerette director is Alyssa Goza and the assistant director is Kyndal Kennedy.
